Newest {sewing} challenge...

Ava has started drooling just like Jack did. Jack started drooling at about 2 months and didn't stop until aroung his first birthday. He was constantly wet...ugh!! I had to keep bibs on him all the time. So I thought I would make these lil drool bibs!! I found some adorable fabric and created these little cute things! I absolutely love the bird fabric :)
I seem to like girlier stuff now that I have a girl. I typically am drawn to simple prints but anymore I love bright stuff and I love mixing different patterns together.

I have started sewing recently. I really enjoy it although I'm not too good yet. I decided to sew Ava's easter dress as well as little bloomers to go with it.

Mark has been working on building a bathroom in the basement. He had the day off Monday so he spent all day working on it. Monday night when we were going ot bed he said his back was sore. Tuesday he woke in quite a bit of pain and had to call into work. By Tuesday evening he was having lot's of really intense spasms. So he decided to sleep on the couch.
At 2:30 am I hear him calling my name and I ran downstairs to find him on the floor in the bathroom. The table was knocked over. He said he got up to go to the bathroom and passed out and fell and was unable to get up because of the pain. So I called Becky to come stay with the kids. Then called 911. The paramedics came and took him to the ER. They gave him a pain killer and muscle relaxer through an IV which did nothing. Then they gave him a different pain killer that was stronger and that eased his pain so he could at least walk out of the hospital.
We came home and slept for a bit before going to see Marx doctor. He ordered an EKG which came back normal. He thinks it's either a pinched {cyatic} nerve or a slipped disc. He wants him to take it easy for the next few days and then on Monday he starts physical therapy.
So please keep in your prayers. He is still in quite a bit of pain- the meds just take a bit of the edge off.
Mark says,"no gifts please just send cash!!" :) jk!

Where has my {brain} run off to...?

I'm really not sure how people have lot's and lot's of children!
I feel like I forget things all the time and can't keep my train of thought. I will be talking to someone and right in the middle of the conversation I forget what I was going to say!
Well yesterday I got the kids all ready, myself ready, made up some milk for the baby, packed us all up and headed to the car. As we were going out the door I was trying to make sure that Paxton didn't dart out. We got outside and Jack in a bit of an upset voice said,"mommy, I can't be out here!" I told him to hurry up we are late! He said, in a more upset tone this time, "NO! I can't be out here. I don't have any shoes on!"
Oh dear! I forgot to put my poor lil guys shoes on!
So I lugged everything back in the house and put his shoes on.
We finally got to the car and were a couple blocks away when Jack realized he forgot the picture of Paxton. So we turned around and got that picture!!
I was telling my sister yesterday that our life is so much fun right now with the kids but it's a bit crazy at the same time.
I miss you brain...feel free to visit anytime!

He's {home}

A few months after Mark and I were married we adopted our first baby, a longhaired orange tabby cat from the pound. We named him, Paxton.
I wasn't looking for a cat -I was looking for a dog. However when we went to the pound I saw this cat and he was so sweet and cuddly. My heart broke for him and we adopted him. He was our first baby!! We held him all the time and he slept with us and was just spoiled!! I was off work for 3 months when we first got him so we spent a lot of time together.
When I was preggers with Jack I decided it would be best for Paxton to go to a new home because I was going nuts with all the cat hair and didn't want it all over my newborn baby.
So he went to live with a coworker from Gailey's.
We missed him often- we always say he was the best cat ever!
Last year we gave away our dog and I was loving my animal free home!!!
About 6 months ago Mark was saying that he would really love to get a cat again. I say no way- the only cat I would want is Paxton. I don't want just another cat.
Well would you believe we got a call yesterday from a woman that has seen Paxton everyday for about 3 years. She believed he was a stray or a runaway. He still had the collar and tags on from when we gave him away. We had gotten a call from another person that saw him about 2 months ago. So we told the woman that if he comes around again we would come and get him. She called last night and said they had him in their home.
We hopped in the car and drove to Morton to pick up our boy!
He was scared at first and meowed most of the way home, pooped in our car and almost escaped when Mark was putting him in the house.
However- once inside he took a tour of the house and before we knew it he was the old Paxton again. He was cuddly and sweet and even climbed into bed with us and was sleeping on the pillows like he always did. The difference now though is that I have 2 children and I don't see him as my baby anymore so, "get off my pillow!!"
We were afraid that he would cry all night to go outside since he has been an outside cat now for however long. He was fine. I thought I would need to be careful when opening the door to leave today too so he didn't dart out but he was content on the couch cuddling up next to Jax pj's.
Jack is ecstatic!! He calls him 'Patsun" or 'tittytat'
I'm not looking forward to the cat hair all over again but we believe everthing happens for a reason and we might not know it now but there is some reason that this cat is back in our lives.
The cat hair pales in comparison to the joy and excitement that Mark and Jack are feeling right now!
Welcome home Paxton! We love you!

she got her ears {pierced}!

Ava got her ears pierced today!! She really did so good. She did of course cryright when they pierced each one but recovered quite quickly.

Jack wanted to get his ears pierced as well. Mark doesn't even like it when I paint Jax toenails so I knew he would kill me if I pierced his ear!! (I wouldn't do that anyway)

But they did have some magnetic earrings-Jack chose guitar earrings.

Thanks to Auntie Becky and Auntie Heather for helping. Becky shot the photos and Heather cuddled her soothed her while I had to take care of the buisness of paying the bill.

Emily did such a great job of doing the piercing and kept saying how great Ava did.

She {sleeps}!

Ava slept through the night for the first time last night! I put her to bed at 10:30 and woke up at 4:30 and realized that she hadn't been up yet. I went to make sure she was ok and went back to bed until 6. She was still sleeping. She let me get ready for work and then woke up.
What a nice surprise! I thought for sure we would have a rough night since she had gotten shots yesterday.
Mark asked why he still felt so tired...I don't think one night will catch us up on our lack of sleep but maybe this will be a reoccuring event!!

2 month {stats}

Ava had her 2 month doctor appointment. She weighed 11 lbs 9 oz! She was 22 inches long. On the chart she is 75th percentile for weight and her head and 30th percentile for her height. Whatever that means. I don't really pay much attention to the chart. But apparently she is short and chunky with a big head!!
She got her first set of shots today and did quite well. I think Jack and I were more upset than she was! We both started crying!
The doctor gave us the ok to get her ears pierced too so watch for pics of that! I can't wait!

Jack and Mommy {date}

Jack has been showing some signs of jealousy lately when it comes to me. He wants me to do everything for him and wants my attention a lot. We are assuming it's because a lot of my attention is now focused on Ava. So I decided to take some time to just be with Jack by ourselves.
We went to the mall and he got to get the {Spiderman} t-shirt he has been wanting at the Gap. He carried it all over the mall and even to Target, the Children's Place, the thrift store and Tj Maxx.

We also went to Gloria Jeans to get our usual,{French Twist} of course his is 1/4 french twist and 3/4 whipped cream! He got to get the espresso beans he always wants to buy for a quarter but we always say no because we never have a quarter. I don't think he will ask to get those anymore because he thought they were {yucky}.
We then went to Old Navy where he always asks for a ball. He now understands that he gets to play with the ball but then we put it back in it's {home} when we are done.

Lastly we walked down to the gum ball machines where he got to pick a {gumball}. Of course he picked his favorite color {green}.
We had a great day together. I just laughed with him so much. We told each other secrets and held hands most of the time. I love him! I will miss these times when he is older and too cool to spend time with boring ol' Mom!

On a side note- I enjoy the funny things he says. When we were at TJ Maxx he saw a toy he had been wanting. When he saw it he said, {HOLY COW! Look at that!!!}
Then this morning he was having a hard time with one of his toys. He said,{I am tired of this toy not doing what I tell it to} I guess he's heard the a time or 2!!

Thankyou Aunt Becky & Aunt Heather and Aunt Stephanie & Uncle Jake! We appreciate you keeping Jack for us while we went to Iowa to be with Marx family during his dad's surgery.
I know Jack had so much fun because he kept talking about you guys.
Thursday night Aunt Becky took him to Walgreen's where he got some 'kids chocolate'. (daddy put him up to asking aunt becky to buy him chocolate). Then they got groceries at Jewel where he got to pick out which apples he wanted. He had fun playing with Halas and the kitties. The next day Aunt Becky was taking him to Mimi's and she asked him if he had fun and he said 'yes-but let's do it again when I don't have to go to Mimi's after'.
Then Aunt Stephanie picked him up from Mimi's friday night. Her and Uncle Jake took Jack to Chuckee Cheese's and to ToysRus where he got "Operation Hulk' They were playing this friday night when I called to talk to him- he wasn't too interested in talking to boring ol' mom!
We are so blessed to have such great aunt's and uncles for Jack. We appreciate that you are all such a part of Jax life and you invest so much into him! They say it takes a village to raise a child and we are grateful for our little {village}!
We love you!

jax {jargon}

I have a book called Jax Jargon. For about a year and a half I have been writing the cute, funny and inciteful words that Jack says.
This morning he woke up oh so happy {which is not typical on a week day when we have to get up early}.
As he was sitting on the bathroom floor playing with his spiderman webs he called out: 'Daddy, did you have sweet dreams'? Mark said no. Jack said, 'well I did!'
We just started laughing. So cute!!
Jack I am so happy that you had {sweet} dreams last night. It's always fun to listen to you tell us what you dream about every night. I know Mimi likes hearing about them too. Especially yesterday when you dreamt about her killing the snake and telling the kids to stay away from it. I guess if I was a dream interpreter I would say that you see Mimi as a protector. You love her so much-you talk about her often.
I hope you continue to dream. Dream BIG my darling, dream BIG!! My wish for you is that all your dreams come true. You have made my dreams come true! I love you to the moon and back...
