She was a good girl last night. I propped her up in front of some black and white material I had purchased. She stared at it for quite awile. They say babies like black and white. I had noticed her staring at some black and white jammies that I wear so thought I would try it since she can't hold any toys yet. I think sometimes she cries out of boredom. So the material was different for her.

Then I gave her a little baby massage with yummy lavender lotion(she loves massages-I really think she is going to be a girly girl{diva}), cleaned out her nose, gave her some gripe water and put her jammies on her.

Daddy got her to bed by 10, she got up at 1:30 and 5:15 for feedings. That is perfect. If she can continue to do that I will be so happy. 5:15 is perfect timing for when I have to be at work at 7 starting next week.

She really is a sweet little thing. A little more high maintenence than Jack was but, like I said she is a {diva}. I think maybe she will just be a bit particular like her mommy- not picky- particular!! HaHa!!

At least she gives us lot's of smiles now when she isn't being fussy. When I see her smile it makes it all worth it!

Wanted to talk about my little man a little too...

He has been frustrating us a lot lately. I know a lot of our lack of patience stems from lack of sleep. He just really has a mind of his own now and is much more vocal about how he feels and what he thinks. His vocabulary has really improved. So he back talks quite a bit and whines if he doesn't want to do what we ask him to. You know, typical 3 year old stuff. Well we have caught ourselves yelling more than we want to and sending him to his room for timeouts.

Well last night was one of those nights. He was being nasty. Smarting off and throwing a temper tantrum(which is hard not to laugh at sometimes!!)

Anyway- once he cooled of him and Mark were having their favorite snack- oranges. Mark asked Jack a question and he didn't answer him. When he looked at him his eyes were glazed over and Mark realized he was choking. After hitting his back and giving him the heimlich he got the orange dislodged and Jack let out a big sigh. It was only a few seconds but seemed like forever. What a relief!! So of course then we both were loving on him and I of course started to cry(so emotional right now!!)

I say all this to say: No matter how frustrated we get sometimes or how trying it is raising children, I wouldn't trade it for anything!! Our kids have brought so much joy and love and fun to our lives. There are so many times that we just crack up laughing at the cute things he says. Jax giggles fill our house with the most amazing sound in the world. His hugs and cuddles are priceless and I don't know how I could go on if I didn't hear him say 'I love you Mama' everyday.

He has so much love in his little tiny heart and is always so generous in sharing that love with us and his baby sister. I couldn't ask for a better boy. People often tell us how well behaved he is when we are out to dinner or at church. The good times far out way the difficult ones.

I love you Jack! Thank you for choosing to be our son! You have made your daddy and I better people. You are our dream come true!!

Lovin' {bath} time...

She looks like she is saying: 'hello!! i'm naked here!'
She loves taking baths- she just relaxes and is so calm while she is in the water. Wish I could just let her soak in there!! She is going to be a {diva}- I know!!

Gotta love the {babylegs}. Mark hates these but I think they are oh so cute!! They sell them at Target now! I got these at a baby boutique in Lake Zurich.

We love you Jon...praying for you!

{Praise the Lord}

Its 9:30 and Ava is in bed!!! I'm going to bed now too!! Thankyou Jesus!!!

After Ava's episode she did go back to sleep around 10:30 and then was just up her usual every 3 hours. So I can't complain. I got her in bed by 10 tonight so that is good.
I go back to work tomorrow so I was hoping to get her feeling better and getting to bed earlier when I returned.
I broke down while we were watching a movie tonight. I was holding both of my babies and just started bawling thinking about having to go back to work. It's hard on any mom that works I know. I will get through it - it's just hard right now. I hate the thought of someone else getting to love on my babies all day instead of me!! I just don't want to miss out on anything in my kids life.
On the other side, I know it's healthy for me to have my own time even if it is at work. And like my sis said- the time that I get to spend with my children will be all that more special.

I spoke too soon...

So I went into Ava's room at 10pm because she was crying. I didn't turn the light on but when I picked her up it was wet all around her. I turned the light on and realized she was in a pool of vomit and was continuing to vomit as I was holding her. We got her to the bath room and started a bath and she was still vomitting. Poor baby!!
She is quiet now in her swing. Her favorite spot the past few days. She'll probably want to eat soon since I assume she has an empty tummy by the amount that she vomitted.
Jack had lot's of vomitting episodes due to a sensitive tummy(I'll never forget Disney when he was 1- vomitting at the table at a fancy restaurant)- it looks like we are in for a similar road with Ava. Apparently Mark had a sensitive tummy when he was younger and actually still does. Someone even once asked his mom if he had an eating disorder because he would vomit all the time after eating too much.

{Sleeping} Beauty

We've had some rough nights even with the gripe water. However tonight I started giving Ava the gripe water at her 4:30 feeding and then again at her next feeding. She just drank a full bottle with 2 sccops of {sensitive tummy}formula added. It is now 9:30 and she is in bed!!! This is the best evening we have had in about 2 weeks! She usually cries all evening and doesn't go to bed before midnight and definitely not without a fight. So we are hoping that this will continue to be a great night and that she sleeps good all night!!

The {Toohill's}

10 years ago I was a nanny to Katie Toohill. She celebrated her 10th bday on Wednesday. Boy do I feel old!! She was Ava's age when I started watching her. Talk about coming full circle! I was so young when I was her nanny and now I am a mom myself. So wierd how time changes things.
Anyway- it was fun hanging out with the kids tonight. Jack had a blast playing with all Drew's fun toys and playing hide and seek for the first time.
Can you believe I forgot to take my camera!? Luckily Katie got a digital camera for Christmas si we were able to get these images! :)

{Thanks} Amy!

My sister-n-law gave me this {uppercase living} sign for Christmas. I just got around to putting it up today and I love it!!! It looks great with the frames and the color of the wall.

Thank you so much Amy- I've got ideas for some more things I want!! Let me know if you are going to have another party...

How do you spell relief?...{gripe water}

So we have a colicky baby:( For the past few weeks Ava gets crabby and irritable early evening into the early morning- 3am the other morning. So this means she is awake and screaming for about 5-7 hours!! Nothing would make her comfortable.
I researched colic a little online and saw this gripe water stuff. Luckily we found it at Walgreen's and last night was so much better!
Ava went to bed at 11:30pm. got up at 1am to eat and then 5am to eat and then at 8:30 am to eat. No it's not a full nights rest for us but so much better that what we have been getting. And she wasn't irritable when she was awake.

Yeah...I know...right!?

I love him...I adore him...I can't get enough of him!

Yesterday we were driving home and I was talking to a guy on the phone about shooting his wedding. When I hung up the phone Jack asked who I was talking to. I told him I was talking to someone about taking pictures at his wedding. He said, "Mommy, when I get bigger I am going to take pictures with you."

A visit to Mommy's work...

Ava and I had a fun day of visiting my work friends yesterday. We started our day at Logan's for lunch with Tori and then went to Country to see everyone. It was so good to see them.
It was nice to have Bryan over last night as well. We had yummy tea and played ski jump on the Wii.
