Ok - sorry - there is a limit per blog of how many pictures you can post. I wanted to show you Jax favorite part of his room!!!My dad built this train table from a picture of one in the Pottery Barn catalog. I think it is better than Pottery Barn's. He made it taller and with bigger drawers.
We have been working on Jax big boy room for about 6 months and I finally put the finishing touches on it this weekend. It feels good to be done! I hate it when people come over and I am always like, 'and what we want to do here is...' Now it's just the way we want it. I love it. He walked in his room at one point today and looked at his picture wall and said: 'you made that mommy?' You could tell he was excited for something new in his room. There is a picture of Ryli our dog on the wall and he looked at that and said: 'ah there my Ryli! I lub her!' It was the sweetest thing!! (we've been thinking about getting rid of her so Mark and I felt bad!) Anyway I hope you enjoy the pictures of Jax new room. Mark asked me today what I am going to do when Jack ask's to put a Ninja Turtle poster on the wall! I'm not sure. I have a few years to enjoy it like it is I think. We will cross that bridge when we get there. I don't want to be 'that mom'!! So I will have to loosen up about everything matching in my house and let my son have his own creative freedom. Right!?
A lot of you have been asking how Jack's potty training has been going...well...it's stopped. We were working so hard and he was doing so good for about 2 weeks and then he decided he likes to go potty in his diaper. I was frustrated because he had done so good for a little while. What happened to make him go back? Who knows. So we decided to just wait until he tells us he has to go. We will kill ourselves if we keep asking and bribing him. He does occasionally tell us he has to go potty (usually if he is in trouble or doesn't want to take a nap-to change the subject, you know). But we still get the honor of changing stinky gross diapers! Oh well! This too shall pass. My friend Vicky told me the other day: 'You don't see 12 year old boys walking around in diapers do you?' I am just letting Jack be Jack. He will learn in his own time. I thought he would never start walking but of course he did, I thought he wasn't learning his colors fast enough but now he constantly tells us what color things are, I thought he wasn't talking enough but now we can carry on conversations with him. So I am not going to compare him to other kids and just enjoy where he's at today and take one day at a time! I'm quite positive I won't be changing his diapers in 10 years!!
We had such a fun and busy weekend. Jack was so excited this morning when he discovered the Easter bunny had visited his house and left lots of goodies. Especially his favorite- GUM! Jack was such a good boy at church today too. We usually take him down to the 2 year old class but recently I have started taking him to service with me for the worship time and then taking him down. Well today he sat in big church with us the whole time - he was so good. I was shocked. He whispered when he talked and colored his book and cuddled in my lap with his blanket and milk. Then we went to Jumers for the Easter lunch and once again he was an angel. I don't mean to be bragging but anyone who has kids is familiar with the 'Terrific Two's'!! Well just recently it seems he is coming out of that stage. He has been minding us (bribing has just become effective as well!) and has just been really sweet. I think it helps too that just recently his vocabulary has matured so he is able to communicate with us better. Don't get me wrong- he still acts like a 2 year at times but those times seem to be getting less and less. I just took this picture of my 2 boys- a much needed nap for both of them! I think I will go take one now as well!
Last night we colored eggs! It was Jack first time and he had a blast. Thankyou to Uncle Jake and Aunt Stephanie for coming over and joining in the fun and bringing the cute cookies and cupcakes!! This morning we went to the Easter egg hunt at our church. There were sooooo many people! Jack had a blast although he said numerous times that he was cold! We then made our way to the mall to see the Easter bunny but when we got there Jack informed us that he did not want to see the Easter bunny-so we left! 2 year olds are so much fun. Anyway hope you all had a fun Easter as well!
Hope you all have a very nice Easter weekend. We are painting eggs tonight- Jack's first time. I will post pictures later. Then tomorrow we are going to an Easter egg hunt at our church. There will be 20,000 eggs there- I hope Jack is able to find some!!! I don't think it will be much of a 'hunt' more like a Easter egg pick up. It should be fun- of course I'll post pics of that as well.
I spent 6 months in England in 2000-2001. I had the best time. The best part about my experience there was my friend Vicky Greene. We instantly became bestfriends. Although I don't always keep in touch like I should! I have seen her a few times since. One of those times was in 2005. She called me up to tell me that she would be in Florida on holiday. So Mark and I were there a week later to see her!(Jack was 5 weeks old). Well she called me again yesterday to tell me they were going to Disney this year. So I got on the phone with a travel agent and now we are going to Disney too!! We didn't have plans to take a vacation this year so this is so exciting for us. Vicky has had a baby since I saw her last so I can't wait to meet James. Him and Jack are 1 year apart. I know they will have so much fun together. I am so thankful for a husband who gets excited with me and didn't hesitate to say "Disney, here we come!" The count down begins: 3 1/2 months!! I'm glad its not that far away- we couldn't stand the wait!
I thought I would share these images of little Addy. This is the daughter of my best friend Diana. Addy is such a happy baby. She smiles all the time. I think these are some of my favorite pictures I have taken so far. It didn't hurt that I had such a beautiful model. Doesn't she look like she could be a Gerber baby!?
