One of my favorite things to do is decorate. I lay awake at night and think of things I can do around my house. Well recently I had the idea to redo mine and Mark's room. We have never really decorated our room the way I like to decorate since no one really goes in our room except for us. I focused more on the rest of our house instead. Well we found new bedding that we loved and it was a killer deal at TJMaxx. Love that store. Anyway my whole house is brown so I tried something new-COLOR!! I love the yellow- it's fresh yet still warm. Mark let me get away with one brown wall. A rich dark chocolate. We still have one wall that isn't finished- we need to buy one more picture frame. But... I feel so good when I walk in there. Its cozy and new and comfortable. I only wish we would have done this sooner. For those of you that know my house we switched rooms. Our room is now the room that was the nursery. Our old room is now the studio. Let me know what you think of the room. Unfortunately the color isn't as good in the pictures but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.
The day my family has been anticipating for months came! My brother and sister-n-law had their first child. Oliver Sky Goodman arrived friday afternoon. We went to see him this weekend and he is absolutely beautiful. He was such a little sweetie pie! It reminded me so much of when Jack was born and made me really want another baby bad!!! Congratulations Skyler and Amy! We are so excited for you guys and can't wait to watch Oliver grow!! Jack already loves his cousin 'Olliler'! When we were looking at pictures of the baby he kept saying 'I wanna hold my baby'.
Ok- I'm not really sure what is worse... changing diapers all the time or having to run to a bathroom anytime Jack has to go. The worst is when we are out in public because its a huge ordeal. Jack can't just pull his pants down and go. He wants his coat off, his shoes off, and his pants completely off! He's so funny! We haven't been quite as on the ball as far as constantly asking him if he has to go. Others have told me to just relax with it a little and it will come natural. So he goes in his pull up sometimes and on the toilet sometimes. We do remind him to tell us if he has to go and still ask him- just not as much. So we have good days and not so good days. Yesterday he went in his pull up quite a bit. When he would go in his pull he would ask me if he was a 'bad boy' I would tell him of course not! But 'big boys' go potty on the toilet. He told me 'i a big boy'. So I said 'yes you are- so make sure you tell mommy next time and go potty on the toilet.' Well at 2:30 this morning Mark and I woke up to Jack yelling from his room:'I go potty on toilet!' So...we all got up and our 'big boy' went potty on the toilet! So again I ask... what is worse? Diapers or being a slave to the toilet wherever and whenever Jack has to go potty!!?? Through all the not so fun times I am still thankful to have such a fun, smart and energetic little boy. He keeps us on our toes and we wouldn't trade it for anything. When we look back we will have great stories to tell!
I know some people are anti-Valentine's Day and say that it is just a Halmark holiday but I like it! There were a few years that I hated it because I was alone. I have fond memories of those years though too. There were the years that mom would by me something special because I was single and the year my little brother bought me a little teddy bear to let me know he cared and loved me. One of my fondest memories of Valentine's Day was when I was in grade school and when we would come home on Valentines Day Mom would have the kitchen decorated and have cupcakes and a little Valentine party for my siblings and I. Thanks Mom! This year it gave me an excuse to take some cute pictures of Jack and to go on a date with Mark!! I don't think that this should be the only day that you show the people in your life how much you care about them. But I don't think a day reserved as a "love" day is a bad thing!! I hope you all feel loved this Valentines Day and everyday!
Mark's Mini Me He always say's "Daddy's work- wowe's!" playing Daddy's WII The very first time I saw Jack I instantly thought he looked like Mark. Over the past 2 1/2 years people always say how much he looks like his Daddy- even people that don't really know Mark or have only seen him a few times. So I am going to take a picture of the 2 of them and enter it into the Father/Son look alike that the Pantagraph has every Father's Day. We took these pics of Jack the other night- he wanted to wear Daddy' clothes- which makes him look even more like Mark to me-Mark's Mini Me!
Well... we had a great night as far as potty training. Jack went potty as soon as we got home-ALOT. He was on the toilet for about 15 minutes. He told me to sit on his ladder(step stool) and read. So I think this will probably turn into our new routine when we get home now. He didn't have any accidents all evening even though he only went potty one other time. We had a very tiring night though over night. Jack has a really bad cough that kept him up most of the night and therefore kept Mommy and Daddy up most of the night. He woke up this morning however refreshed and cuddly. He really is the sweetest little boy I have ever known! I am thankful that the weekend is not very far away and we get to sleep in on Saturday!!
Ok so we started potty training on Sunday. Jack has been doing so good. He hasn't had any accidents at the babysitters house for 2 days. He did have an accident Monday evening at Papa's house- his first accident. Then yesterday on our way home I could tell Jack had to go. I asked him if he had to go potty and he said he did. I said ok we are almost home can you hold it? He said yes. So the rest of the way home I kept saying "Don't get your pants wet. When we get home you can go potty in the toilet"- he kept saying- ok. So when we got home we ran inside straight to the toilet and he went pee and poop in the toilet like a big boy. He was on there for quite awhile so we read a couple of his potty books (Everyone Poops-from G&G Mahan-so funny! And another potty book for boys-not sure of the title) Anyway- in one of the books there is a fish in a fish bowl. He wanted it. I told him when he stops going potty in his diaper and only goes potty in the toilet Mommy is going to get him a pet fishy in a bowl. He said-"at the store"? I said yep at the store. So now we have incentive... However... we kept asking him about every half hour if he had to go potty and he always said no. And would scream when we took him and put him on.Then about 2 minutes later he peed on the floor(Aunt Beddy caught him and took him to the potty to finish-thanks Aunt Beddy!) Then later he peed on our bed and our bedroom floor(Daddy heard it hitting the floor and caught him-thanks Daddy!). So we are a little frustrated because we constantly ask him and he says he doesn't have to go and then has accidents. Any suggestions?
Last night when I went to put Jack's diaper on for nigh-night he looked down at himself and said:" Look my weiner!" Oh my gosh- I laughed so hard!!
A friend of mine has a blog and she always ends her blogs with something she is thankful for. I want to steel her idea. No matter how tired or frustrated I get I know I can always think of something to be thankful for, right!?
Today I am thankful for my husband and son's sense of humor- it never fails in everytime of frustration we can always find something to laugh about... this time it happened to be that the thing that caused the frustration and the laughter was the same...Jack's weiner!!!!!
We have been talking to Jack for quite some time now about going potty. He has gone potty on the toilet off and on for about a year. Recently we have wanted to really get him potty trained but he is not interested. I have offered treats and told him only babies go poop in their diaper but BIG boys go in the toilet. Everytime he just says- NO! Well this afternoon when we got hope from church he told me had to go poopy. I asked him if he wanted to go in the potty and he said- YES! So he went pee and poop in the toilet. Then I asked him if he wanted to wear big boy underwear and he said he did. I told him we don't want to get any pees on these nice red big boy underwear so he needs to tell Mommy when he has to go potty. He said ok and went down to show Daddy his underwear and told Daddy he goes potty on the toilet. So this is the first time we have had a mutual agreement about the toilet issue and it seems like he really gets the concept ( at least for today). Anyway I hope this is the first day of a diaperless future!!
I don't know about you but I felt like a kid today. I remember how exciting it was when we would watch the tv just hoping our school would be on the list of closings when it would snow. Well this morning we got up at our usual time to het ready for work. I watched the news to see if Country would be closed and it wasn't on the list. So Mark and I went out and shoveled our cars out. I don't remember the lasttime I saw that much snow! Anyway- I came in and got ready for work and decided to watch the news one more time(just hoping)! Well I was so excited when I saw Country was in fact closed today!! YEAH!!!! So Jack and I had a lazy day around the house. We played, watched tv and had a nice long nap. That is my idea of a perfect day. I only wish Mark could have joined us. Lowes of course was still open so Mark went into work as scheduled. He is off this weekend though so we look forward to sspending the weekend together as a family.
